This past week Nicole and I attended the Travel Technology Europe conference in London. Have to say that this was one of the best conferences we have ever attended. There must have been three-to-four thousand people there. We setup our booth and founders interview tabletop in the Disrupt area with 10 other travel startups.
The four judges on the startup pitch panel included Tom Day of London & Partners and Traveltech Lab, Toby Tait of Gatwick Airport, Matt Zito of Travel Startups Incubator and Travolution editor Lee Hayhurst.

Data Portcullis a screen scrapping technology startup won the pitch event for having the most disruptive technology. The two runners-up included Upgrade-Digital and Pay by Group. Veedback a video travel review startup based in London our newest investment at Travel Startups Incubator was there as well. We met a lot of travel startups and a few travel companies swung by to introduce themselves. All in all it was a great time and we are looking forward to next year.

Travel Startups Incubator Managing Partner, Matt Zito says “the tour and activity space is a fast growing global market. The adventure travel industry generated $263B in revenue in 2013, growing 24% annually the last 4 years. In a short period of time ABL’s team has been able to build a B2B platform and successfully onboard over 3,500 activities for sale with distribution from over 50 resellers.”
Adventure Bucket List has a back-end CRM that allows activity and tour companies to facilitate online bookings, manage their customers, track purchasing metrics and update availability/occupancy in real-time. Activity and tour companies can sign up for a free 30-day trial and be using the platform in seconds.
The sales and distribution platform includes an API designed to allow larger travel sites to integrate activities and tours into any part of their website. We are looking for media websites, airlines, hotels, accommodation websites and high-traffic travel industry related websites. The white-label widgets designed for smaller websites are dynamically broken down to 2 lines of code to allow for fast and seamless integration into any travel site.

Travel Startups Incubator is pleased to announce our investment in Trveler a subscription-based spontaneous travel and adventure startup for millennial travelers. Trveler is lead by co-founders Pablo Chavez, George Haskell and Krista Scimeca.
Trveler is currently in product development.

Matt Zito, managing partner at Travel Startups Incubator, says “Pablo Chavez has created a unique one-of-a-kind travel product for millennial travelers. Millennial travelers are a huge and growing market in the travel industry that the old guard are not servicing well. Millennial travelers want personalization, customization and a sense of spontaneous adventure in their travels. Trveler at its core sets out to meet all three of these needs.”
Trveler works like this. You signup and join by making your first monthly payment of $149. You create a Trveler profile which includes destinations you are interested in traveling to and the dates during your subscription period that you want to travel. Your travel budget is fixed so each month you know you’ll pay $149 to travel 4 times a year. You don’t know exactly where you are going but you know you are traveling. Each trip includes a 2 Night/3 Day vacation package including RT Air, Hotel and Trveler extras and bonuses that will be included in your travel package.
As you go through the subscription period, you build your vacation package from options and choices that are delivered to you in a curated format via email. You’ll choose a departure and return date, a destination, a RT air ticket and a hotel. After your selections are made you’ll travel every 90-days.
Trveler is modeled after the subscription in a box trend that is sweeping through the USA. Instead of receiving products in the mail each month you’ll receive travel options via email enabling you to customize your trip and travel spontaneously 4 times a year.
